Second Coming of Christ

We don’t know when Jesus will come. The Bible tells us that He will come like a thief in the night. Thieves come when we don’t expect them. Many people do not expect Jesus so they will be very surprised.
Jesus tells us signs that point to His coming. Many of them have already happened or are happening right now. Earthquakes, famines, wars, and frightened people are all signs that Jesus’ coming is close.
Even though it seems as if Jesus is taking a long time to get here, the Bible tells us "the Lord is not slow in doing what he promised—the way some people understand slowness. But God is being patient with you. He does not want anyone to be lost, but he wants all people to change their hearts and lives. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief" (2 Peter 3:9, 10, NCV).
What will we see when Jesus comes back? Here are some of the things:
Angels told Jesus’ disciples that He would come back in the same way that He left them. "They said, ‘Men of Galilee, why are you standing here looking into the sky? Jesus, whom you saw taken up from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you saw him go’ " (Acts 1:11, NCV).
Revelation 1:7 tells us "Look, Jesus is coming with the clouds, and everyone will see him, even those who stabbed him. And all peoples of the earth will cry loudly because of him. Yes, this will happen! Amen" (NCV).
In 1 Thessalonians we read that "the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. And those who have died believing in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive will be gathered up with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And we will be with the Lord forever" (1 Thessalonians 4:16, 17, NCV).
And Jesus told His disciples that " ‘people will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. Then he will send his angels all around the earth to gather his chosen people from every part of the earth and from every part of heaven’ " (Mark 13:26, 27, NCV).
I think it will be awesome to see Jesus come. And I don’t think His coming is very far off. Let’s ask Jesus to keep us following Him right on into heaven!
